LEVEL airlines review – How do they ‘level’ up to other airlines?

Level Airlines – direct service from the US to Barcelona – is it worth the price?

Flash back to June 2024, I got the travel bug and was on a mission to book a flight to Europe. I headed to Google Flights and started typing in Miami to Europe….and something caught my eye! I saw round trip direct flights from Miami to Barcelona for under $350. First thought was this can’t be true…but after all it was Google Flights which i always use for searching flights, so started to further investigate. I couldn’t find much info on Level or people’s reviews of it. I contemplated it for a few hours and then just couldn’t let this fare get away so ran back to my laptop to book the flights!

Now that I had snagged the round trip flight from Miami to Barcelona for October for $348, I kept searching for any information I could about the airlines. I did see that it was codeshare partner with Iberia and American but that was all. I opted for the ‘Light’ ticket option which didn’t come with much more than a seat (assigned at checkin), carry on bag and personal item. Then the waiting game started, T – minus 3.5 months till I the actual flight.

A few weeks after booking that flight, I started getting emails from Level about different promotions for $99 one way fares to BCN! So many thoughts running through my head but the one that stuck was I must book another flight to snag this deal even if I wasn’t sold on the airline and the travel experience yet. It is a VERY long flight from MIA (10.5 hours for the return!!!) but for $206 RT i was willing to take the gamble.

Flight 1: Oct 18, 2024 was my first flight with LEVEL – MIA to BCN. We departed at on time and even landed early! I was able to sleep majority of the flight but the only snafu with this leg was the TV screens behind each seat didn’t work.

Flight 2: October 27, 2024 – BCN to MIA. This leg was the ONLY. one that had major hiccups! I got several emails and texts the night before departure that the flight was delayed a few hours, but I still chose to arrive at the airport on time as I have Priority Pass and was going to spend time in their lounge. The board at the airport was showing the flight was on time even though the emails kept coming that it was delayed. Once the board read ‘go to your gate’, thats exactly what I did, hoping it was going to depart on time! The gate desk was empty, not a LEVEL agent in site! I even walked around hoping to see someone at another gate to inquire to no avail. The crowd of other passengers started to build around the gate too, and no one had any information. My fellow passengers had no idea they were even flying on a LEVEL operated flight!!! The frustration started to build, as we were unable to get flight status from LEVEL, Iberia, BA or AA. No one could help and provide info. The boards at the airport till showed on time and go to gate, but no plane or gate agents. We all stood there for 2.5 hours just waiting for info. The plane eventually arrived and same with gate agents and we ended up departing around 3 hours late.

If you are one who wants answers and updates in live time from the airport board or airline employees this situation wouldnt work for you. We were completely in the dark and at the airlines mercy of just remaining at the gate for hours. And since we only arrived into MIA 1.5 hours past scheduled arrival time, no compensation based on the new EU rules (:

Flight 3 and 4: February 16, 2025 – MIA to BCN and February 23, BCN to MIA. No complaints at all. Flights were full both ways, TVS worked and was offered free water several times through out the flights even for the ‘Light’ fare. Flight 4, they even handed out free snacks, mini bags of crackers to all passengers!

Flight 5 and 6: January 12, 2026 – MIA to BCN and January 21, 2026 – BCN to MIA. Once again, no complaints at all! Flights were on time and smooth. We even landed a bit early both ways. If you want a bit more leg room I suggest booking the middle section right where it changes from 4 seats to 3, see photo below. I highly recommend signing up for LEVEL emails as they run amazing Birthday/anniversary deals starting at $8 one way!!! Most flight segments were priced between $49-79 though when i logged in. I was able to purchase this RT flight for $113!!!!!!

The best FREE perk of LEVEL, they offer free WIFI for messaging only during the entire flight!!!!! *Wifi was not working for flight leg 6, which made for an extra long 10 hour day flight:(
